Cristina is a dedicated Registered Psychologist with a PhD in Psychology (Educational)
With over a decade of professional experience, she is committed to providing comprehensive mental health care and support, fostering a warm, non- judgmental, and safe space for her clients. Cristina empowers individuals to navigate their mental health challenges with confidence, believing deeply in collaborative work where each person is the expert on their own life. She operates from a strength-based framework, utilising a range of evidence-based psychological intervention models to explore different tools for developing resilience and improving emotional well-being. Cristina has training in several effective modalities, including Cognitive- Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Schema Therapy, and Eye-Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy.
Cristina’s experience spans a diverse range of clients and concerns. She has worked with high-performance athletes aiming for peak performance and individuals with disabilities. Her expertise covers a wide spectrum of mental health challenges, from managing stress, anxiety, and depression to providing support for acute and severe conditions, such as psychotic disorders. Cristina also offers vocational counselling to individuals exploring different career paths. She has well-developed skills in working alongside parents and teachers to help teenagers develop social and emotional skills and increase their well-being.
Languages: Cristina is fluent in English and Portuguese (Brazilian) and has a sound grasp of Japanese.
Cristina is a Board Approved Supervisor with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency – AHPRA. She holds a Bachelor of Psychology (1998, Mackenzie University), a Master of Science in Psychology (2003, Sao Paulo State University, Brazil), and a Doctor of Philosophy (2019, The University of Queensland).
