Dialectal Behaviour Therapy Perth

Dialectal Behaviour Therapy Perth

Experienced DBT Psychologists helping adults and teens, based in Applecross!

DBT is a highly effective, researched, internationally recognised treatment for people with significant emotional and relationship difficulties.

At Aresolution, our focus is on providing therapy that has been shown to be effective by research findings, which we have found actually works for people. In addition to DBT, we provide specialist clinical psychological services and therapy for a range of problems. Lastly, we have an Assessment and Diagnosis pathway for people needing to clarify their diagnosis, which involves comprehensive psychological testing and diagnostic interviews, leading to a formal diagnosis and report.

What is Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)?

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) is an evidence-based treatment that was initially developed by psychologist Marsha M. Linehan originally to help individuals with borderline personality disorder. Over time, DBT has proven to be highly effective in treating a range of mental health issues, including symptoms of emotional dysregulation, self-harm and suicidal thoughts. Thus it is proving useful for individuals with ADHD, mood disorders, PTSD and Binge eating.

DBT combines elements of cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT) with mindfulness techniques to help individuals develop skills in emotional regulation, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, and mindfulness. By focusing on building these skills, DBT equips individuals with the tools they need to navigate life’s challenges and improve the quality of their relationships.
